Early 20th Century Depiction of Je
Tsongkhapa (1357 - 1419 CE), whose ordained name was Losang Dragpa, was a
great 14th century Tibetan Buddhist master who promoted and developed the
Kadam school that Indian master Atisha had founded three centuries earlier.
He was the founder of the Gelukpa in Tibetan Buddhism, and also the founder
of the Ganden Monastery. His followers believe that his appearance in Tibet
had been predicted by the Buddha himself. His right hand is in the
mudra blessing of bestowing the seed of Dharma.
