How do I know if a bronze statue is actually bronze??

A friend told me that I have is the statue of bronze. I want to sell, but I show that it is not a bronze and brass finish. A magnet does not stick to it.

Only three metals stick to magnets, and the bronze is not one of they. Well, if you want to know if it's metal or not, just take a stick and beats, metal should give a clear and crisp "Ding" sound. To see if the metal is brass or not, get something you know for sure is bronze, found the back of a card (with a rough surface or a piece unglazed terra cotta) and scratch with the real bronze. Then all a discreet place of the statue with him and Compare the color of the mark of the two. bronze piece made by someone or they must be making bronze in it or the artist. Old Brass
Would you like to refinish old brass bed. Can I spray paint? If so, what would be a nice finish?

We have an old brass bed metal 70's (brilliant – cheap looking) and give it a more classic. It's for our son of 24 who, so you must have a male gaze. Open to all suggestions and general comments. If we can spray paint it, we are thinking black or antique bronze. thoughts?

Preparation of metal is the key to achieving results. It must be clean. Once your cleaning to where you think your right … put on rubber golv and wipe with a cloth dampened with acetone. DO NOT touch metal with bare hands. Then sprinkle with 2 light coats then priming layers of color after the address paints used. My preference would be to use devices such epoxy paint. They are VERY resistant to scratches.

Rare Japanese

At that time, was not a big market for such relics of a bygone era, and any collector had given a fairly decent chance of collecting a considerable amount former Japanese valuables for a small investment.

Times change however, and today the value of antiques from Japan triggered. Instead of being a "bargain" that a fan or minor collector could easily afford the collection of antique items from Japan is often a costly affair.

However, the ever increasing value of the various items over to feed the desire to discover an ancient Japanese piece that had perhaps been overlooked.

Seeking Japanese Antiques everywhere

Mainly, the problem with searching for what could be in sight is the enormous extent of it. Ironically, that is the very reason why there doubtless are still rare in Japan the old articles that could be worth much, but are simply overlooked.

Very often the first ports End call to be the antique shops. To some extent this makes sense, but today many antique shops actually have your inventory professional values. Therefore, the chances of finding rare antiques Japanese who were somehow overlooked when examined carefully slim to none.

In fact, watching the Japanese porcelain plate an old set that can be a family heirloom that has been passed from generation to generation, probably would be more effective. More likely is that these pieces have never been very well appreciated or experts.

Of course, this is the very basis of the search for ancient Japanese valuables hidden in plain sight – to see those pieces that experts have not had the chance to see.

For this reason, running auctions without Japanese antiques appraised beforehand are a treasure of opportunity. Many times a seller has unknowingly an antique piece which proved to be extremely rare. Needless to say, the buyer who discovered a hidden diamond that have benefited enormously.
