The Japanese tea ceremony is a traditional ritual influenced by Zen Buddhism in green tea called matcha is ceremonially prepared and served by a physician expert to a small group of guests in a peaceful environment, such as a teahouse in the garden. Chanoyu which means "hot water for tea" refers to a single act that involves only the tea, while the version known as Chaji meeting "tea" implies a tea ceremony track in which a light meal is served too, and can last up to four hours. Mastering the art of tea ceremony includes years of study that can last a lifetime, as the student should be familiar with several interrelated disciplines, such as flower arranging, calligraphy, ceramics, incense, and the proper technique to carry kimono. Guests who participate in the ritual must also be aware of appropriate behavior regarding the use of certain phrases and gestures needed to maintain the integrity of the ceremony.

If the tea is served in a tea house guests initially shown to a waiting call machiai, which is usually a separate structure like a gazebo simple. After being summoned by the host that are purified by rinsing the mouth and hands with water from a stone basin known as Tsukubai, then continue through the garden of the teahouse. Remove shoes to proceed through a small sliding door that only thirty and six inches high, symbolizing that all who enter are equal in height, regardless of the condition or status. The setting no exception roomis of a scroll painting called kakemono, which has been selected by the host and highlights the theme of the ceremony. The Buddhist scriptures in the book is called bokuseki (trace ink) and is admired for each guest in turn before being seated seiza style on the floor mat.

If a host does not serve food presented to each guest small sweets consumed with special paper, known as Kaishi, that each person brings in a decorative wallet tucked in the bosom of the kimono. All utensils for use in the tea ceremony, as plate, tea spoon, and beat, are ritually clean in the presence of the guests in a precise manner and order, before being meticulously prepared according to the ceremony performed. After the cleaning and preparation of the utensils, the host site carefully as some green tea powder in one bowl with the appropriate amount of hot water, then stir the tea with a precise set of movements. Guests relax and enjoy the atmosphere of the environment simple and conversation is kept to a minimum. Then the host serves the bowl for the guest of honor, the arcs are exchanged, and the bowl is raised to the host in a gesture of respect. The bowl then rotate the results to avoid drinking from its front, takes a sip followed by a prescribed sentence, the edge of the dish was dried and rotated back to its original position and then passed to the next guest with a bow. The protocol is repeated until all customers have tried the tea cup itself, and then returned to the host lava. The shovel and the container of tea was offered to guests for consideration, each item to be treated with care and respect as handmade antiques that can be irreparable for generations past. Then the host collects the utensils, and as guests leave the tea house the bow as a sign that the ceremony has ended.

Ideas on how to make a cup of tea, Japanese style?

I'm in a ceramics class of the College. I was wondering if anyone can explain example or tell me some easy ways to how I make a Japanese tea bowl or something to type.

You could shoot or make a pot pinch. Both are fine, but I prefer to shoot. Modeling with pinching give a very rustic, if done well, but I think I prefer to pitch. http://s65.photobucket.com/albums/h233/chamekke/chadougu/Nezumi-Shino_chawan.jpg http://1.bp.blogspot.com / _Z5mkimUm5Y8/RgN_zlxdVDI/AAAAAAAAAA8/zv5xTq5PzZ0/s320/Koetsu% 2Bchawan.jpg Top one looks thrown (could be tight) background seems a pinch pot. My only recommendation is that more or less four inches (W) high. Otherwise, do not think the idea is successfully transmitted unless literally has the Japanese characters on it, which could be at the top.

they're on parade in December and want to act animal crackers by Shirly Temple in the soup for me. they have created a dance number and everything, but we can not seam to get the thing bowl. we will use elastic to hold it in them (like braces). any help would be greatly welcomed.

I never did, but the first thing that came to my mind was to find something round and the size you want the bowl to be. Go to your appliance stores and ask one of the big cardboard packing boxes. Wet the cardboard and secure in the round "thing" and let it dry. Spray paint it.
