What kind of material can I use the silk embroidery floss?

I just ordered a thread of pure silk embroidered crewel used to (do not have thread) embroidery. What type of fabric would be best to use these? I have never worked with this type of floss before. Thanks!

Floss is usually used Embriodery spot for thread, embroidery or Embriodery surface on evenweave linen. Crewel work is done with 2-3 chapter as Paternayan wool. Working with the silk that need to keep your hands very soft and if you have dry skin catching the thread and stick to your fingers.
