You could try to connect directly to stores and ask them if they take orders. I would be surprised if they did. Here is the list of shops: http://www.ot-montsaintmichel.com/commerces_gb.htm

Can you tell us when you see real Ivory?

I have some Netsuke Figurines, which I think are made of ivory, but recently some people I have said that they think they are plastic. Do you know how to tell the difference? Reply to my email and I can add a picture of them and maybe that can help. I was interested in selling my figures, but do not know what they are worth. Can you help me with this?

Hello. According to this article: http://ezinearticles.com/?How-Do-You-Tell-Fake-Ivory-From-Real&id=1025288, that can be hard to tell the difference looking. However, the article describes what seems like a simple needle "hot" test that can be done to determine if it is plastic (or resin) or real ivory. If they do the test and the real ivory, I'm afraid I have no idea what they are worth. Maybe you can find similar ones for sale Online? I've also heard of this site where you pay a small fee and, presumably, an expert tells what your item is worth: http://www.wiw2u.com/. But I do not know how reputable they are. Good luck to you.

The statues and figurines of Buddha we see around us are the statues of Shakyamuni Siddhartha Gautama the Buddha, born in Kapilavastu, a former province of Nepal, as the son of King Suddhodana and Queen Maya Devi. The Queen had few auspicious dreams before the Lord came into the belly of the Tushita.

As Prince Siddhartha Gautama came to the age of 28, renounced the kingdom and lived the life of a beggar. He sought and attained enlightenment in six years, under a Pipal tree and became a Buddha, in Bodhgaya. After enlightenment he spoke this stanza:

"Through many births who has been the builder of the house of pain is gone and I am free to more births "

Shakyamuni Buddha preached dharma through out his life and light the world had gone out and lord passed away into Nirvana at an age over 80.

Speaking of Buddha statues, the statues of Buddha are found in a wide variety of positions, the most common integer is the statue of Buddha sitting in lotus position. The sample position the inner and outer balance and tranquility. Statues of Buddha in meditation posture of the hand or the mudra, have the fingers of his right hand resting lightly left as it was lit in the first lap and legs crossed in lotus position. Many statues of Buddha sitting on a pedestal in a lotus flower that represents the be lit or empty.

Another posture is the Abhaya mudra in which the right hand is raised and is the gesture of dispelling fear. Statues calling the earth to testify are represented by the positions in the right hand is touching the earth below, which displays total faith. And finally the reclining Buddha statue represents Buddha's passage into death or Nirvana, like the disciples, angles and gods bade farewell to never returner Shakyamuni Buddha. Medicine Buddha statue symbolizes the belief that Buddha parted knowledge on medicine along with spiritual guidance.

The Mudras or postures of the hands of the figures of Buddha Shakyamuni, are in Abhaya (fearlessness), Dhyana (meditation), Dharmachakra PARIVARTANA (Turning the Wheel of Dharma or doctrine or religion) and Bhumisparsa (calling the earth goddess to witness the touch of the earth by the right hand)

Hands Buddha statues are hand made and therefore are a work of artisans of love, or a loving heart and moving ways giving final positions. The first representations of Buddha were mounds erected on the relics of Buddha, also known as "Stupa". The external decoration of stupas display the entire life of the Buddha from leaving home for illumination and Mahaparinirvana.

The most largest and tallest Buddha statues were found in Afghanistan, which have been colossal in size and have been recently destroyed by the Taliban. The statues of Buddha in Nepal are usually made of gold, granite, bronze, copper, bronze, resin, silver, ceramics, wood, etc, are put on sale in a fine work of display in Thamel and Durbar Square in the ancient city of Kathmandu in Nepal or sold in the online store various statues of Buddha as http://himalayacrafts.com wholesale or retail. The standing Buddha statues with flowering robes is also common. And Buddha heads and hands are also for sale.

All these meanings behind the Buddha statues to give birth memories of the enlightened master who once walked on earth 2500 years ago. In other words, are reminiscent of the "Grand Master".

My husband died in March this year. I want to meet a man / male angel to put next to his urn. I know he is in heaven protects me and my two small children. If anyone knows where I can find an answer please. Thanks

Not sure off hand. I feel sorry for her husband disappeared. Maybe you can commission a sculpture to be created by a local artist or even try to imagine a memorial tribute to him in a new medium as a painting. Or maybe check on eBay for a nice male statue … Royal Doulton perhaps? Blessings and I am sure they ever will on behalf of your love and respect for him perfectly.
